Ever wonder how to achieve clean eating when you’re grocery shopping? Where do you find the stuff that’s good for you? Did you realize that most grocery stores are set up with the same general layout with regard to food type location? And no, you don’t really have to walk past all the doughnuts and candy and cakes and …well you get the idea. Here’s one of our most valuable life hacks.
Emmy is here with a great grocery shopping hack for you! It’s a simple concept, one you will be surprised to find out – but it’s true! Most grocery stores are set up with a very similar layout, and all the clean eating stuff is found in a specific pattern. Watch this grocery shopping hack from Emmy & find out how to eat healthy, and cut down on having to put your willpower to the test when you have to walk past all the “not-so-good-for-you-but-delicious” stuff (hint: you don’t have to walk past it at all!)
As you can see, it’s easy to avoid all the non-healthy stuff – just stay away from the center of the store! Stick to the outside perimeter in most stores, because that’s where you’ll find the meat, produce, and other low-glycemic, low-calorie, low-carb foods – in other words, the food that you get the best nutritional value from. In the middle of most stores is where you’ll find the not-so-good-for-you stuff; pre-packaged, processed, loaded with additives and preservatives type food.
When you’re attempting clean eating, you want the most nutritional value for the least calories, which actually means LOW calorie stuff is not always the answer. Low fat foods & drinks (skim milk, etc) are not as good for us as we’ve been taught for years either – in fact, they can work against your healthy eating more than you might think. Just stick with fresh, non-processed, no sugar added, low carb food around the edges of most grocery stores, and you’ll be in great shape! Emmy, a licensed fitness nutrition coach (and 2nd degree black belt in TaeKwonDo!), can help you!
